Project Noosphere - August Retreat
August 6 - 8 1996
The Noosphere Retreat will be held at Avalon1from 6 - 8 August. It will be a ‘special’ retreat and we will have Professor Jim Miller (MIT and W3C) with us (remotely) for two early morning sessions.
The Retreat will be based at the original Austin Mansion at Avalon (40 mins drive from RMIT) and we will be expecting participants there for dinner by 6.30pm Tuesday 6th. The accommodation is very good and we will have all meals etc provided - if you want special ‘extras’ you may like to bring them, or if you have special dietary requirements, we will cater for them happily if you let us know.
We will be using computers, of course, so advise you to bring your portable computers etc. We are hoping that the weather will be nice and that we will be able to enjoy walks along the beach (which is just at the end of the garden) so bring warm gear with you, please.
Have you been to a Sunrise Retreat before? If so, you will know that they are full of surprises. This Retreat is not a Sunrise Retreat so it will not have any surprises - we will work tirelessly and with dedication on one major task - describing Realisation '96! (See the timetable attached.)
Avalon Conference Centre is run by Angie Watson from Kilpatrick Green - her phone number is 052 739 251.
The phone number at the Avalon Centre is 052 824 657. Email facilities will be available.
Please note. It will be helpful if
- you can think of one or two cultural activities in which you have participated and which you think were distinguished for some reason, and you could complete the form attached and make 15 copies before you come, and
- you can bring a list of urls which lead to interesting www sites.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Liddy

Cultural Events
We are looking for very precise descriptions. Please think carefully about the event you have in mind and give a brief account of it which will help me, the reader, enter the environment as a vicarious participant. When you have described the event so I can imagine myself participating, please write an explanation of why you think the event was important/successful/ or whatever.
The format for submission of these stories should be as follows.
Account-of Event
try to write a few sentences as possible in here - think of the image which exemplifies the whole - (the metonymic trigger!)
Account-for Success/memorability/failure/...
write here as you feel inclined - but one page per event is max!
Please deal with each particular event on a single and separate piece of paper.
